New Elder Nominees

Christ Fellowship is governed by a team of elders. We believe this is in harmony with the New Testament teaching regarding church leadership, that the church be led by a plurality of qualified leaders (more than one person). The Bible instructs elders to oversee the church and care for the flock. They are the primary group who are accountable for the overall health and effectiveness of the church. Ultimately, Jesus Christ is the head of the church, so the essence of the elders’ responsibility is to seek his direction in overseeing, guiding and caring for the church. The qualifications for eldership are laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, and we take these qualifications very seriously. All elders have served in our church for enough time for these character qualities to be observed and confirmed by many, and we have a thorough process for elder selection.

It is with this in mind that we are excited to present two new candidates for Christ Fellowship’s elder team, Neal Mackey and Ken Mattson. Neal and Ken will be commissioned in the worship services at the McKinney campus on January 10, 2021. If you have any questions about these men, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Neal Mackey

Neal and Lu Mackey have played a special role in the life of Christ Fellowship’s Spanish ministry ever since their newlywed years. They’ve led four different mission trips with the church and have been involved in life groups for 16 years. Lu served on staff for four years and their son, Hyan, is an active part of CF Students on Wednesday nights in McKinney.

Christ Fellowship is our church. When we moved from Mexico to DFW, we literally moved to McKinney because of Christ Fellowship and the many members of the church who had loved and supported us… I’m humbled and honored by this invitation and am most excited to learn and grow along men of such great character and maturity.”

Ken Mattson

Ken and his wife, Susan have attended Christ Fellowship for 19 years. It’s where they raised their kids Sarah, Kevin, and Kelly, now grown. Susan has served in Vacation Bible School every year since 2002 and together they lead a life group. Ken also played a critical role in the launch and early growth of the Christ Fellowship Anna campus.

“Through Christ Fellowship our faith has strengthened each year. We have felt challenged to stretch ourselves in our faith journey, our generosity and our interactions with others. I am excited, humbled and honored for the opportunity to serve the church as a member of the Elder team during this very challenging time… Because of the heart of this church and the people here, I am excited for the future of Christ Fellowship.”
