Day TEN

BEGIN

Pray to experience joy in Christ through our theme verse:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

Review the memory verse for the week:

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10)

Read and meditate on this passage today: Luke 15:8-10

Look for what you learn about God and listen for what the Spirit is saying to you through the Word of God. Compare this parable with the one we read yesterday.

Luke 15:8–10

⁸“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? ⁹And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ ¹⁰In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

How is this parable like and unlike the previous one about the sheep? What point are both making in response to the accusation against Jesus? What effort does the lady go to? What is the cause of rejoicing? How are the friends involved?

PRAY

As the Spirit leads, let these themes guide you in your prayer today:

Thank God that he carefully searched for you or is searching for you.
Rejoice over any lost “coins” that have been found.
Pray that you too will search for the lost.
Pray that you too will rejoice with all of heaven when the lost are found.
